Job Description

Security Officer 3Security Officer 3 will perform their duties, in a manner to provide a safe and secure environment for learning to take place. They will, to their utmost ability, keep the peace, and protect all members of the campus community. They will provide efficient and courteous service to everyone who works, learns, or visits the campus.NOTE: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance.Essential FunctionsProtect students, staff, and visitors, up to and including the possibility of an armed intruder or individual intent on harm in the building, or on grounds.Keep the peacePatrol interior of buildings, and exterior grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry/trespass, disturbancesControl access to all school facilities and grounds at entry pointsLock, unlock, and check doors within the facilityCheck student hall passes, and keep hallways clear during class time to foster a quiet, peaceful learning environmentMonitor cafeteria, assemblies, or events with large number of individuals in attendanceWrite reports and statements, submit behavior referrals as related to security and peace keeping dutiesUnderstand and abide by Security Department Rules and Regulations, as well as Board of Education policyUnderstand, and be able to implement, or assist in the implementation of the emergency planAssist with situations wherein students, staff, or officers are in danger, or the situations themselves are inherently dangerousAssist during emergency safety drills (Fire, Weather, Active Shooter)Keep the peace by stopping, intervening, or assisting when disturbances, fights, or distractions occur on school propertyUse of force in compliance with policyDirect traffic and monitor parking on school propertyAssist in medical emergenciesAssist safety services (Police and Fire)Provide security services at after school, or outside events and functions related to school activitiesChallenge and attempt to identify individuals suspected to be involved in criminal activity.Activate fire alarms in the event of a fire, and aid with extinguishingEffectively communicate and operate a two radioCall Police or Fire services to respond in an emergency.
